Susannah is the mother of two daughters and lives with her husband in Australia. She is a lactivist, intactivist and thinks birth is awesome.

With her first baby she didn’t even know what a placenta was, but learnt a lot in a few short years.

After being told too many times that being ‘just a mum’ didn’t qualify her to give evidence based information, she started studying as a doula and breastfeeding counsellor.

Despite being a birth nut, she likes to provide support for choices based on circumstances, because what birth or family is by the book? Although she advocates for natural methods where possible, she also sees how c/sections, drugs and formula feeding have their place when needed.

When not being birthy, Susannah is working on her memoirs, builds websites (like this one) and runs a local writing group. She’s also a journalist.
