If you’re in your third trimester, you may be looking forward to a baby shower or sprinkle with friends and family. Baby showers traditionally involve lots of games and gifts for the soon-to-be-mother and diaper raffles combine these two fun things into one – with an added bonus for a lucky guest.
What is a Diaper Raffle?
A diaper raffle is a fun way of encouraging guests at your party to bring diapers. Each diaper is exchanged for a ticket and one ticket is drawn at random. The ticket holder receives a prize.
You can also apply the diaper raffle rules to any other gift – for instance baby wipes.
What are the Rules of a Diaper Raffle?
You can make up your own rules however you wish, however here are the ones most commonly used:
• Each packet of diapers is worth one ticket, even if brought by more than one person.
• There is at least one prize, but for larger parties, 2-3 prizes are a good idea.
• The winning ticket is drawn at random.
• If there are multiple prizes, the same guest cannot win twice.
• Spread out multiple prize draws, for instance one each hour.
• The value of the prize or prizes should be equal to or greater than a bag of diapers.
What Prizes Should I have for a Diaper Raffle?
Prizes that are relevant to all your guests are the best type, so you don’t have to worry about the winner receiving a prize they don’t like. Some examples include:
• A gift card.
• A gift basket of food or hair products.
• A gift voucher for a restaurant or pamper session.
Diaper Raffle Invites
Make sure you include any relevant rules and instructions about your diaper raffle with your baby shower invites. For instance, you may want to request that guests don’t bring newborn size diapers, if you already have enough of these. Remember that if you do get too many of any size, many stores offer exchanges for another size on unopened packets.
