As your pregnancy progresses, you’ll probably notice that you get more and more hair on your body, and that doesn’t just include thicker glossier locks.
The linea nigra is a line of hair that extends down from your belly button to your pubic bone. It’s common during pregnancy and you may also notice other parts of your belly or chest have thicker and more noticeable hair than normal.
Are there any downsides to shaving your belly?
If you have sensitive skin, you may experience itchiness or annoying regrowth. Although some people believe the adage that hair grows back thicker and darker if you shave it, this usually isn’t true. In fact, the extra pregnancy hair you’ve grown will fall out during the first few months after baby arrives and your hormones return to normal.
So, should you shave?
It’s completely up to you. If the hair makes you feel uncomfortable or self conscious, then there’s no reason you can’t. Just keep in mind that it won’t last forever; the amount of hair on your belly will return to normal in the first few months after you give birth.
